It shouldn't even be legal to build up around a person's home like this. It's messed up and obviously intentional. People that do this are honestly sick wastes of oxygen.

They definitely tried to make it unbearable for him to live..funny thing is technically he now owns property inside a multimillion development..guess how much he can sell that for now..

This man is in Coral Gables Florida. The max day offered him was 400, 000. Several attempts to buy his house, but he ultimately rejected all of them because of sentimental value. They also recently tried to find him a bunch of tickets, which were all BS. He got a lawyer and the city dropped all the tickets. He is still there now. He also has nowhere to park his car in front of his house. He’s pretty much walled in because of all the construction.

The guys name is Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old balloon salesman. He didn't sell his property and instead has, with the help of a close friend Russell, had the house moved to Paradise Falls, in Venezuela. Air transit of the house was a challenge. Upon being asked why he moved the home in such a peculiar manner, Carl replied "because, the adventure is out there. The Wilderness Must be explored".

At least he didn't live in New London, CT, where the state would have allowed the city to take the land by eminent domain to give to the private developer, because higher tax income is a valid reason to steal someone's property and not pay them enough to buy a comparable property anywhere else. ?!?!?

For him it is simply his American dream, it was the house that his parents gave him as a home, where he was born, grew up and has spent his life. It is difficult to leave behind a part of your heart and your story, but at the same time from what I have seen in the news, the developers never wanted to give it a fair price, since what they offered was never going to be able to buy a house with the same conditions and size. . And now the government imposes super stupid, meaningless fines on him daily, with very short times for him to resolve them. Respect for man

It's his home and his land. Leave the man alone. We need better rights for homeowners in Florida.

That happened in my town. They put a bank on one side and an apt on the other. The older lady wouldn't sell. The house was there for at least a decade till she passed. I was always rooting for her.

How can developers come in already established neighborhoods and expect people to move so they can build monstrosities like this? Find vacant land and develop that.

Now he should have a pool built and hire some large ones to float around naked. He's saving tons on AC bill now

Remember... There is empty land that can be built on. The problem is that as long as detached houses exist and people are aware of them, not many people want to live in apartment buildings but if you destroy the houses in the process you give people no option but to live in apartments

I've seen this happening my whole life. I remember, in the 80s, seeing a farm and a house turn into a greater mall area with the house still there. Early 90s and house gone. RIP the owner of that house and my teenage years.

Now his property value is probably 50 x. Live in the shade. And lives like a king with castle walls around him

What people dont understand is that developers don't play you much of nothing. But they will turn around and make millions, if not billions, once they get your property. If they are not willing to pay you a million or more, then dont sell.

As someone who was born and raised in Florida it’s literally a horrible place now. Every patch of green space that was left is being turned into apartment buildings or shopping centers. Too many people here now and the prices are jacked up everywhere. Places that used to take 5 min to drive to now take about 15-20 mins.
