Peter Klutt presents the Legendary 1966 GT40 MKII-B. A closer look at the original 1966 GT40 that raced at Le Mans in 1966 and 1967 with Dan Gurney behind the wheel. This car is one of the few GT40s involving both Carroll Shelby and Holman-Moody. This car was the pole sitter at Le Mans in 1966 setting the all time fastest lap at Le Mans at the time, and lead the majority of the race. This car also sat on the pole at the 24HR of Daytona in 1967 with Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt as the drivers.

In 1967 at Le Mans was one of three GT40s converted to MKII-B specifications with only two cars recieving the complete upgrades.

After It's racing career the car was hidden in Japan until being brought back to the USA and restored to exact 1967 Le Mans specifications by two of the foremost GT40 restoration shops. in 2016 the car was shown at pebble beach concours d'elegance and placed 1st in its class.

Makes my 68 year old heart go pitty pat ! Absolutely my favourite sports car of all time, especially the Weber carb version. I drew this car on my notebooks as a kid over and over.

I'm a MOPAR guy, but, there are cars that transcend brand and this is one of them! One of the coolest cars ever made!

Got to see this car in West Palm Beach a few years ago in a yacht dealer's lobby... they were nice enough to let me drool at it for a little while.

I saw this gorgeous GT40 in person shortly after it was restored, at SAAC-37 Watkins Glen (Jun 2012)

Certain car designs never get old. This is one of, if not the very best of them all. What a stunning vehicle this is.

dad brought home a GT 40 MK II , Silver in color, BEAUTIFUL, and making WONDERFUL mechanical SOUNDS, he worked for FoMoCo in NYC public relations. WOW, just the SOUND and in our little suburban enclave in New City, NY, what a BIG deal. It snowed that Friday night... When I looked out from the upstairs window and said, " where did the car go!?..." I'd NEVER seen my father do a BOLT upright run! The snow had blown over the driveway. He was outside with a inverted broom looking for the car! Yes, right hand drive, so after pulling out his back trying to effectively pay the toll on the GW Bridge he had a neighbor commute with him to pass the coin! I have a picture of that silver MkII with wire wheel knock off rims, and would love to hear it at "full-chat" again.

I love this car! My favorite GT40. This chassis started as s/n 1047, but was switched with s/n 1031 (the other Mk IIb) after LeMans in 1967. The sister car (renumbered as 1047) won the 12 hours of Reims after LeMans in 1967 and is currently on display at the Revs Institute in Naples, FL.

FWIW - Peter Klutt is one of the best drivers I have ever seen. He drove at HSR's Mitty more than a few years ago, and he dominated every race he competed in, usually lapping the field in a seven lap sprint.
