I love the Ford GT40, it is genuinely one of the most beautiful cars ever build along Ferrari 250 GTO and Ferrari 330 P4... and overall the most beautiful (kinda) American car ever, even in front of the Shelby Cobra Daytona!!

No. The bubble was for any driver that was too tall, with this particular chassis being driven by Sir John Whitmore and Frank Gardner, but got the nick name “gurney bubble” since Dan was one of the most successful drivers at the time, while also being a staggering 6ft. 4in. May not sound like much, but for formula 1 cars of the day, and really for any racing, that’s high.

What you SHOULD have talked about, was the fact that this was 1 of 5 aluminium chassis made during that period. The first two were Alan Mann cars (AM GT1, AM GT-2), and this being the first of the other three chassis XGT-1. It only ran at Le Mans

I think anyone with even a passing interest in the GT40 knows about the "Gurney bubble" and the FIA Luggage provision. If it was news to the presenter, presumably the car itself is as well

Interesting that GT40 NO 2, 3, 4 and 5 had Gurney bubbles but NO 1 (Ken Miles and Denny Hulme's car) had no Gurney bubble. Ken wouldn't have needed it as he was quite small in stature. Great video nonetheless.
