Rest and recovery is for many, a luxury when in survival mode.

Dr Bialik has a knack for explaining complex concepts in ways that make me understand and not make me feel stupid. I wish I could do that.

I find it immensely comforting that such people exist. These days, we need such people more than ever before.

Well said. The problem is giving yourself time to recover entails the social difficulty of being labeled with a mental illness while many simply cannot afford to undertake this process for you bot working for a while has financial impact on your life.

It requires one to recognise that they cant cope as they normally would, take time out, your boss, your job, it carries on without you, put your self first

I was laid off from my last job, I didn't work for 6 months. It was 100% necessary. I was there for 15 years and it was a very toxic environment, I had to distance myself from that place both body and mind to feel real again.

I would love to hear more about this and going through the recovery phase, what that looks like in your mind and your body. I'm coming off 6 years of constant escalating stress and finally able to enter rest and recovery including some trauma healing but it's this whole new experience that is so incredibly foreign to my brain!

I’m in severe burnout in all the ways .. autism, adhd, cptsd, under housed in a city with multiple states of emergency, including around homelessness… thanks for reminding me it will end, at some point … and my recovery will hopefully be filled with joy

I was in a toxic relationship for almost 30 years and during that time was in a money making, career zooming, ladder climbing trajectory, oh and did I mention I had two kids, both my parents died, and I was downsized three times before finally getting divorced and spiraling into my final phase of alcoholism? Yeah, so since then I’ve been sober 8 years, I have chosen to work hourly jobs that I enjoy (still gotta pay the bills). Beyond that, life is so much better now that I’m focused on the right stuff and surrounded by the right people! I’m glad my sons have learned this lesson by watching g what happened to me and how I rescued myself, and how their dad hasn’t. In their words, money isn’t important. Quality of life is!

Love this. Took a few days near the ocean to Walk or do nothing. No laptop. Watched motel cable movies. No rewind lol in the moment. Definitely needed mentally exhausted exacerbating carpal tunnel and eye strain. Take care of yourself!

They used to call that having a nervous breakdown. Your whole body and mind and soul can shut down and on at a time at different speeds and time. Sometimes you just don't know what's going on until you're actually at a point of uselessness. We cannot hold onto what was as we have no reserves left. This is where to self care, the resting, the sleeping, the treatment of "us" is sort of like a child in order to rebuild and regain strength. Never mind going back to what we used to be. This is a major opportunity to restart, recharge, learn, grow, and mostly overcome the hurdles that Brough us down. There's no shame in this and professional help is crucial - not your friends as they're used to seeing in some light and may not understand. This whole journey feels like you may be in an abyss but being that low where else can you go? Only up and once you've reached that other part of you that did the work - you can then be humble, kinder, smarter, learned, wise, calmer - oh so many other traits you may not have prior to the "burnout". Don't ever give up on yourself... never!!!

Not dealing with normal stress was hard, I got angry at the washing machine 😅 working to hard

My extreme burnout resulted in a limbic system impairment. It's been over 8 years and I am doing better, but I still don't have the ability to regularly handle what most others would consider a "normal day". Rest is key. Also avoiding overstimulation as much as possible. If someone only did 2 things I would recommend cutting all synthetic chemical fragrances from their life and doing yoga nidra.

I can’t remember the last time I didn’t feel like this. ADHD, mom, wife, nurse 😭

I can't even make a decision anymore, that stresses me out so much. I try to narrow things down to 2 and flip a coin🤣

How do you get said time to rest and recover when you don't have the means to pay your bills if your not working 2 jobs? Also I've had major issues getting mental health services because I don't have insurance and im not mentally able to deal with fighting the state for help as I'm working to not drown and getting 4 hours of sleep a day.
