Retroid Pocket 5 | 2 Player Couch Co-Op Split-Screen Gaming

Hello everyone, in this video we will be testing two player split-screen co-op on the Retroid Pocket 5. This is without a doubt my most requested RP5 video to date. I’ve had very many comments asking me to try this so here I am to test out what you’ve been waiting for!

I test the RP5 on both a portable monitor and a 4k TV. We will test various genres of games (racing, fighting, cozy) and see how they run in splitscreen coop mode using controllers from Xbox and 8bitdo (no Playstation or Switch this time, sorry).

The conclusion is that, if you use a proper connection method (a high quality cable or dock), you’ll have a great experience using the Retroid Pocket 5 as a home console device. If you use a poor quality cable, you’re not going to have fun.

I hope this was helpful and let me know if I missed anything you’d like to see or what you’d like to see next!

If you’d like to buy your own Retroid Pocket 5, you can click this affiliate link below to the official Retroid website where I bought mine:

The "Helloo everyone" at the beginning really reminds me of Pim Pimling from smiling friends

I didn't even think to request this, and now I'm excited about couch coop! Just gotta get that RP5 in hand finally.

Woooo! GOATed. You put my fears to rest and I'm really grateful for that, thank you. I've already ordered two RP5's which haven't arrived yet (one black, one GC), but I really feel like I can recommend the RP5 to others having seen your tests. I felt like the horrid Bluetooth input lag was perhaps the one thing which held back the RP3+, so I'm really looking forward to the docked experience. Good luck with the cleanup efforts and thanks again for addressing Bluetooth input in not only handheld mode, not only with a small external screen, but with a big one too. Bravo

Your videos for the RP5 are awesome. This is the 3rd or 4th time ive searched for an extremely specific topic for the RP5 and your videos are the only ones that completely answer my questions. Appreciate your work!

Couch co-op is a dying art, but it's nice to know that you can still enjoy a little bit of it with the RP5. There are so many old school beat 'em ups you can play on this! Gotta get a good cable, or at least a medium one it will serve you well in the long run.

Please let us know if there's a seamless way to add multiple controllers like a console (nintendo switch/ps4/ps5). This part of adding controllers will take 10 mins at least for us lol. At which point, we would just play switch or watch netflix .

Thanks for showing the different cables. Crazy how the aliexpress cable introduced so much delay

Thank you so much for this entertaining and informative video.
I have been watching since I think your second video and a few hundred subscibers and now you have more than 4k, congratulations.

I still can’t believe that you only review and talk about ONE product in the past three or four weeks and yet you do it nicely, informatively, entertainingly and passionately.

Thank you again for your efforts.

One question I want to ask, have you found anything in RP5 that you think is lacking?

4:23 Можно использовать Tasker и копировать конфиги из определенного каталога при подключении геймпада, а так же копировать обратно при отключении.

For having ready to go docked controls you could use an app apk extractor/installer/editor to create a duplicate app which is seperate from the one you use in handheld mode. One I've heard of is Multi App: Dual Space, but I haven't personally used it. In the settings for the 'docked mode' app you could set the external controllers up and change settings that you may usually turn off that use more battery. Just an idea. I hope to get my RP5 soon and will do some experimenting, as I'm keen to have a seamless docked experience. You could also use a different, more TV appropriate front end, that is automatically set as default when a second display is connected (via tasker). Point the TV front end to the 'docked' version of the emulator, and share a save and rom directory.

Fantastic video and you’ve totally got me sold! Just need to save up for it is all. Just for the heck of it, could you possibly try even more demanding split screen games on the secret console or in general just so we can get a good idea of how powerful this handheld really is? Thanks!

Thanks for this! Very reassuring knowing it can handle two sets of simultaneous inputs with no slowdown. Also good to know not to cheap out on the cable 😅

This review is for bluetooth and wired controllers only? I am having issues with the strange keymapping on 2.4Ghz controllers and remotes. its all wonky, but wired and bluetooth works great.
