I saw the match live and by the second set i was thinking...this is the final RIGHT HERE!!! It deserves to b the final...the way Osaka was playing had she won here i would have expected her to win the title. As it turned out it was smooth sailing for Iga Swiatek from this match forward

One thing that I think helped turn this match into the epic that it was is the fact that the roof was closed. It basically made it to an indoor match which suits Osaka’s game more than Swiatek’s, flat hard hitting tennis is perfect for indoor conditions.

And just for clarity, by no means am I saying this is the only reason that Osaka at times completely outplayed Iga but just that it gave her that little extra edge.
