Come on, this has been going on in gaming development for years, usually known as "Debug" version of a game/app. It displays visually what the code does in real time.

Neither do robots have a mind nor do they "think".

its funny to see the drone was thinking of smashing into the human XD

this was awesome, and also I did the survey :D

I've never really wanted to be inside a robot's mind, because if we've gotten to the point where they have sentient thoughts, we're already heading straight for the singularity with no brakes.

Man, "Hey guys, I'm Amy here for Dnews" sounds so good. Makes me wish I could say that too! ha!

I can easily see inside a robot's mind, as long as it's open source.
[EDIT] This video seems to think that debugging is a recent invention. In reality debugging has existed ever since computers, or you could argue that it's been around since humans has started problem solving.

Yes, I would love to know what robots are thinking, that would be an amazing feature!

I have to say, Amy, you are getting better at this :) Just make sure to not sound like you are reading something, because then I can't really focus on what is going on, except that you are reading something that you sound like you feel that it's boring :o I really like you though and like I said you are getting better at it <3

After a long and deep period of meaningful introspection model 1A435-A came to its final conclusion, "beep" its speakers finally emitted the audio file that marked true understanding.

I don't know, are robots conscious of themselves? I love how these science types are barely willing to acknowledge consciousness in human beings, but when it comes to machines they have no problem extending an _unwarranted_ amount of charity to them

as a robot developer, all of this was pretty obvious to me, and something that is often done in practice before actually building something.

That robot is very lifelike, although it doesn't blink enough.

Robot qualia! D news undermines years of bad philosophy of mind arguments.... Dennett would be proud! (Hopes Amy is impressed...:)

it's crazy the amount of similarities between computer's and the human brain. All that information being sent in the blink of an eye. It's like we are just one squishy computer.

I watched this with my mom. She has a major problem with the idea that robots "think." I'm so proud of her. :P

So, just a really good path finding program?

DNews, do us a favor and rename the video to: "Visualizing low-level code in autonomous programs"

I mean, honestly, there's nothing ground breaking here. When I was in robotics back in high school I wrote a little program that showed us what data was being processed and how in a visual manner, and it made it much easier to understand why our robot would do things like get stuck in corners or get thrown off by moving objects.

The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day...

Didn't someone once say that the question of whether or not computers can think is as relevant as if submarines can swim? That said, it does look like "thinking" is used loosely here, and it's just short for "states within the algorithm"
