In the 1960s, Ford Motor Company embarked on building a supercar that could beat the Italian automaker Ferrari at one of the world's most prestigious car races, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That effort (and the story of the car designer and driver behind it) is now told in the new movie "Ford v. Ferrari." Correspondent Tracy Smith talks with stars Matt Damon (who plays Carroll Shelby, the automotive artist hired to defeat Ferrari) and Christian Bale (who plays legendary driver Ken Miles) about the quest to create a finely-tuned weapon of speed.

the director of the film gave a great IndieWire interview about the film and Bale, one great quote: '' I felt the role was close to Bale [who starred in Mangold’s "3:10 to Yuma"], and prayed he would do it. He’s a model to me of artistic perseverance and flexibility. He'll text you with thoughts and free associations about the character. It's all incredible food. He’s a wonderful father, loving husband, great friend. He’s not interested in being famous. He drives a pickup truck, he’s grounded in the world, he raced motorcycles but had to stop when he got hurt, when he had kids. There are so many parts of Ken in Christian, who’s a perfectionist. He’s trying to achieve something for himself. It's magical to direct someone like that because they draw you into their own idealism. You feel that energy; it permeates the set. ''

The last line of the video sums up motorsport perfectly, so many people think racing is just driving fast in circles, there are so many things goes on behind the scenes

I am from India and I followed Bollywood right from my childhood, but when I saw Christian Bale doing such body transformation in almost every movie, that made me his big fan.
He is the rank 1st actor in my list, followed by Tom Hanks and then Amitabh Bachan.

Great article! I'd love to see the rest of the interview footage with Damon & Bale. Editing on this segment was great, but some of us would like to hear the rest of what they had to say. (Oh, and I'm sure Shelby's grandson had some interesting things to say, as well.) :D
