Looks like a good job, slick bottom. Our best cooking 12" has no markings, either. Bought at a garage sale in '79. It was rusty, so I cleaned it with a 4'" grinder & wire brush, till it shined. Seasoned with lard, only thing the wife will use (cause her granny told her) and we still love that pan, I swear it rivals the old teflon for non stick. Y'all be safe.

My grandmother always told me that the best way to cure and maintain cure in cast iron pans is to fry up bacon. Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! 😁🥓🥓🥓

I took a road trip today to Pittsburgh Tennessee to the lodge museum and store. I bet I might be able to go there again and find out some information for you on that frying pan! I didn’t have time today to tour the museum I just did some shopping. Bought a new frying pan a 10 1/2 inch also bought a couple silicone egg rings for my Blackstone griddle. This store is located off of 24 E. before you get to Chattanooga. ❤️🤗

I have a couple of unmarked (no manufacturer's name) #8 skillets also. Hammered cast iron is quite a surprise! Good job sprucing that one up Jana. 🕊

The numbers on the bottom are to show you what hole they went on on the fire stove….

I use lard. Do you think coconut oil is better. I’ve have used a light weight sand paper on really bad ones. Lol

i cant tell you its a lodge or not but it is a nice looking cast iron pan . i do know that ring at the bottom will help identify it i guess . and as far as seasoning goes there are alot of ways to season a pan . most do it in the oven at 375 to 400 degrees . just so you know coconut oil will smoke you out in the oven . regular veggie oil is fine . now some people will say nothing like bacon grease to season a pan . dont believe that for a minute . animal fat will go rancid its fine to cook with as long as you rinse the pan out with hot water and dry it on the stove . then take a paper towel or a napkin personally i like the brown ones you get from mc Donald's or taco hell . just use enough oil to make the pan shiny turn the stove on and let it get the pan hot not smoking hot but hot . when it cools off its ready to put away or hang up . till you use it again . in my own opinion and we all have them im sure you will get more then you can handle . seasoning is best done on the stove from using the pan . cause your not just wiping oil on it and baking it dry your cooking in it and it retains all the flavors from the dishes you make in it . and some times you just have to throw them in a hot fire and burn the crud off them and start over . but hands down the best pans in the world . loves ya darling cook safe .

Hi Jana - That is definately a Lodge - very old - I have a hammered Lodge Chicken fryer with lid. I grew up within 50 miles of the factory! So fun! I inherited lots of Lodge from my grandmother and mom - and love it all!

Lodge originally had just one tick in the heat ring and later added the three breaks in the heat ring

I am so glad you showed the bottom - i was hoping that you would!

Lodge is great because it was a bit thicker and heavier - much less likely to warp

I have only ever seen a few hammered pieces; I think they are fairly rare - my Mom gave me her hammered chicken fryer a few months before she passed - so it is even more special ♥

I just saw that Lodge started a new line of enameled cookware made now in TN - they are still making their old line of enamel in China.
I will definately be checking out the new enamel.

One of my favorite skillets now is the dual handle -( two short handles) ; I love the wanderlust version - the10 inch SKU: L8SKLWND - I can fit the 10 inch skillet in my Coleman Camp Oven,

I love you videos and have been a subscriber for several years and to Debra's channel also

Thanks for taking the time and effort to do these videos - I am a fledgeling YTuber and started a little channel (different name), and know that it takes tons of time and effort to make these. I so appreciate your channel - I am a southern girl living in New England and your videos give me my southern cooking fix!
