Goodrow is a 4th liner that gets 3-4 minutes a game. Murphy is a defenseman that logs 20+ minutes a game. How is fighting a bum like Goodrow equitable? It puts Chicago down a good defenseman for 5 minutes while Goodrow gets 5 which he would have done on the bench anyway.

Perfect example of top line players are coached not to fight bottom liners.. for the simple reason that's what bottom line players try to do to get you off the ice for 5 minutes or so.

Top line players are most effective on the ice and not in the box, which could cost a goal and worse a game or 2 points.
