As someone who's never spent any money on Genshin (or pretty much any game)before. It does hurt to have your favorite character slip past your hands just because you didn't have the funds, but I feel like its better than spending your savings for a character you'll bench in the future. And it's a lot easier to quit when you're f2p, since you're not forcing yourself to play just because you've spent a few hundred dollars on your account.

I always found it odd whenever *some* people whale on EVERY new character, and then proceed to only use Bennett, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Yelan or Raiden 24/7.

I guess for those types of people, it's like for the sake of collection and "owning" a character they love? But also, it's kinda like just look up fanart of them on twitter or something instead of spending money but never using them cause they're "ew mid".

As a low spender (welkin and some bps) I’ve decided to go f2p from now on as I have most of the characters I wanted, with alhaitham being the last character I really wanted, and now that I got him I’ll be focusing wishes on the weapon banner from now on as I’ve never pulled on it, and am happy with my current roster of characters

It's always a number one rule in any Gacha Game. You either get the cool stuff you like in time or not- or you just spend your hard earned money to get the things you want.

I'm a low spender (Ongoing 2+ month Welkin and spent pron nearly £50-70 on the game. I'm lucky to have an account where I don't need to whale as I've only whaled on it once and I got Nahida. I recently got Xiao on that account at 37 pity with no money spent. I agree with your opinion, definitely whaling is your own choice and if you want to do it do it and if you don't, don't. Just kept aware of what your spending.

because the gap in power between f2p and whaler are so big but our challenge are the same, its a bit hard for average player but its too easy for whale, and now hoyo state there be no more endgame content, soo yeah don't whale unless you have too much spare money and don't know what to do with them

I promised myself this year for 2023, I would only spend on welkin. So far I'm keeping to that promise but Homa banner coming up has my wallet in danger lmao.

But I whole heartedly agree, the difference between a C0R1 character vs C6R5 is negligible when Abyss is the hardest mode.

Ive spent on hu tao and got homa, I regret it. I spent on Xiao and even got an r5 jade spear, regret it. I finally decided to stop getting cons and weaps right away with Raiden who I got at c0 with no weap. What I found was I dont even use her much so when she had her rerun I didnt get the itch to spend. Yelan on the other hand I still play a lot so when she comes back around I will be getting cons but only using the primos I've already saved up so the itch to spend still isn't there.

i mean if i had money I would spend to get C1 Hu Tao and im happy, I gotta get her next phase cause who knows when she'll come again, I really wanna have some specific characters but didnt have enough primogems despite being an f2p, just spend a tiny bit once in a while shouldn't hurt

Honestly, genshin isn't a game where whaling really matters, it's just a flex. The more I play this game the more I'm happy I only spent $60. I understand in other games but I don't see the reason to spend anymore then that. I've enjoyed the game from the very start and up until reaching AR 59, feels like a chore to log in.

It's sad when you don't have the funds to get every character so I understand some people will give a 20, 30 and even 50 € once or twice to get them . But spending hundreds and even thousands on characters that will maybe not be used in the long run is insane to me. I get a welking and some BP sometimes but not nearly 100s for a character . I prefer to eat thank you very much 😅.

yeah same! I don't want Constellations to 5 stars anymore, it doesn't make sense anymore, I just use Itto Geo comp, and Raiden National and I always 36 star Abyss. My characters are just being used for Hide and seek, and Balloon collection, or any childish event.

I’m pulling for homa only because I missed my chance last rerun because my brother was in the hospital. I also feel Genshin gets really boring after whaling….for now I’m sticking to trying new characters and getting them with the free primos I get and seeing what I can do with them

especially when mihoyo introduce hyperbloom..just stack full em and dont care about er crit atk..enemy dead so fast..game become much easier u dont have to spend

Rather than saying 8 solid characters, I would say 2 pairs of off-field and on field DPS units who got synergy for each side of abyss, and 2 good healers/shields and 2 stat buffers with appropriate elements to help out with the DPS pair you chose. Personally though, I have built at least 2 units of each element so that I could utilise resonances to my advantage.

P.S. A lot of meta people say you don't need Shields and healing to clear the game but that's for people who don't mind breaking their keyboard to get the perfect rotation. The rest of us? We want to complete the abyss without too much hassle so don't fall into that trap.

Plus hoyoverse focuses on important way to test how successful in making.... The game become the way it is now without endgame content... Which is by far as a causal player they really did a good job at...
