The coloratura soprano: a demo by Claire de Sévigné

Canadian coloratura soprano Claire de Sévigné is busy preparing for a year abroad, singing in Salzburg and Zurich for the 2015/16 season. She still took the time to tell us a bit about how she does the vocal pyrotechnics she's known for.

I jump from soprano 1 to soprano 2 in my choir. It takes so much work to sing so high! I marvel at her ability. She sounds stunning!

Sopranos are the reason why I started listening to opera. One of my voice teachers was a soprano, who became the muse for several poems. I crushed on her for years and still do think of her sometimes. Female opera singers are always special to me.
