There are a lot of indirect references to 'Soylent Green' in Cloud Atlas, especially in the 'Sonmi' section.  Cannibalism is a recurring theme in the novel.

I just love this moment. The first time I watched it I hadn't seen Soylent so I didn't get it. Then I came back and re-watched it a year or two later, and fucking died laughing.
