They could have made an entire movie out of this story arc. It's like Blade Runner, Logan's Run, Soylent Green, and more rolled into one nightmarish story.

This is, in my opinion, one of the best films ever made. It's both sad and interesting, how poorly it did in the theaters.

Irony is when a fast food commercial aired just before this video played... ugh.

Not seen the film, but read the book a few years ago.
Somnis' story, and the bit about the little dolls house fabricant, getting chucked away, was really powerful shit.

While the whole movie is brilliant this clip is the essence of CORPORATE SLAVERY. Work for nothing treated as nothing, and discarded like you are nothing to bring in the new stock of disposable slaves.

Fiction tells truths to the heart that the brain just can't take. I gaze upon the screen with sympathy, unconsciously knowing it's my own fate that is making me weep.

fun fact: the version of this scene in the book almost certainly implicates “papa song’s” as a futuristic mcdonalds. they’re considered childish and trashy, covered in “garrish” reds and yellows, and the mascot (“Papa Song”) is a clown, a la Ronald McDonald. but the book version is also drastically different thematically so maybe that doesn’t ring true here.

Jesus they work from 5am to midnight. And only get roughly 3-4 hours sleep then wake Up at 4 am to get ready for 5 am all over again.

If you watch the full movie, you may find this remarkably similar to how we treat Animals for consumption. For example we use cows for Dairy produce and then, when they were no longer able to produce them, they are slaughtered for Beef and then, in some cases, they are fed back to themselves. The life cycle of a Fabricant - is the life cycle of livestock.

Also works as a employment recruiting video for Whole Foods or Amazon.

I can't help but love that tone of confidence Somni has at 0:35, LOL!

The fabricants were likely disposed of at pre-set intervals, in part anyhow, to prevent them from gaining too much life experience and knowledge, namely of their true status and situation. Which of course, would create problems for the corporate state of Neo-Seoul over time. Similar to why replicants in Blade Runner had 4 year life-spans. Turning over the fabricant population is a means of preventing potential slave rebellions and keeping the fabricants in ignorance, a control mechanism. It is also implied, that fabricants were not the only ones being fed the oddly named food, "soap"

Neo-Seoul itself, is covered with digital illusions. Under the bright and colorful apartment and restaurant walls, floors and ceilings, is a grey, monochrome concrete?-like substance capable of displaying and projecting varied colorful digital facades.

Vyvyan Ayrs, in that sequence, talks of a dream he had of being trapped in a 'nightmarish cafe, underground' with no way out. He had no idea how correct he was.

Falon Ryan - feeding livestock back to itself was banned several years ago in Europe and the U.S., Canada, all developed countries. It's what causes mad cow disease or Bovine Encephalopathy. This also occurs in other animals that are fed this way. It has also been seen in cannibals in Papua New Guinea, and other small South Pacific islands where cannibalism was once practiced frequently. A doctor (j can't remember his name) convinced the tribal chiefs that cannibalism was the cause of so many

Does anyone else notice how almost all of the fabricants look utterly depressed and void of emotion, probably because they're being forced to work for 19 hours a day, every day, for 12 years straight?

So many people complain about this and that, BUT nothing will get done unless a few brave who then become MANY can do something about it...sick of the same old keyboard warriors, same old shit comments, same old people watching V for Vendetta wishing they had the balls...

JUST DO IT!

I feel like this is what some humans lives are like now. Serving as robots in an oppressive world system.
