As a goth who got arrested for vandalism, I call this place home

This channel provides these amazing videos! It is paradoxical that Goths and Vandals changed Europe forever, while their languages stopped being spoken long ago.

Fascinating. I didn’t know we had this much Vandalic to refer to. It sounds extremely close to Gothic.

Looks like “suaswē” in Vandalic (and therefore “swē” in Gothic as well) match that “swa swa” in Old English.

It’d be interesting to hear King Ming Lam’s “universal germanic dialogue” in Gothic and Vandalic

He constructed this sentence which is mutually intelligible between all modern Germanic languages (except maybe Icelandic): “The cold winter is near, a snowstorm will come. Come in my warm house, my friend. Welcome. Come here, sing and dance, eat and drink. That is my plan. We have water, beer and milk fresh from the cow. Oh, and warm soup.”

Andy your work with the ancient Germanic languages is getting wonderful, for you to unify them all there's still a big chunk of them missing you have to make videos of Old Vandalic, Old Burgundian, Old Cimbric, Old Jute, Old Alemannic, Old Walser, Old Frisian, Old Frisian Anglo, Old Swabian/Swebic, Old Swabish, and Old Elfdalian, Old Bokmäl, Old Frankish.
As you already have video of Proto-Germanic, you still lack video of Late Germanic and Common Germanic.
Then you post Germanic conlangs like Teutonish and Spraak.
Thank you 🙂🫂🍻 for your beautiful service work with other channels.

The Wandalic seems to be constructed on the basis of some words that were written within Latin texts by Roman scribes who did not know how to notate the Germanic sounds.

Where did you get the reconstruction for Vandalic from? I'm surprised there even is something to go by to begin with.

They are both related but both of them have their differences that we can say Vandalic is a different language to Gothic

If Vandalic was still spoken in North Africa, it would have extensive influence from Berber, Arabic, and possibly a Romance language, but if it were to be standardized, would have extensive loan words from Latin, Latinate Greek terms, and other things. Concepts which only exist in North Africa or the Muslim World would probably be represented with an Arabic word. So imagine instead of the typical traditional Germanic greeting "hails!", you'd hear the Muslim greeting followed by a Germanic word. What would make sense is gaining many sounds from Arabic, perhaps even the laryngeal sounds of Semitic languages. The Vandals would probably look identical to Arabs or Berbers of their respective region, and would probably write in the Arabic script, with Tifinagh as a very unlikely possibility. Speakers of some form of modern Vandalic would probably be trilingual to some degree, mostly fluent in Arabic or a Berber language with the Vandalic language spoken among the family or tribe.

For th sound you used the hard t, þeins vs tīns/tīno or airþa vs erte. Did the th sound get dropped like other sounds in Vandalic because I've seen words like theudo(gothic: þiuda). Would it be instead teudo or rather pronouced teudo instead of theudo? Curious is all.

You can almost hear how Vandals influenced Romantic Iberian languages.
