11th #whaleshark successfully tagged by WTI & Gujarat Forest department off the coast of #veraval

A 28-feet-long male #WhaleShark was tagged successfully off the coast of Veraval, Gujarat. The fish was completely healthy when being released and was observed actively moving back to the waters. This tagging was undertaken by #TeamWTI.

Thanks to the immense support of Mr Y.S. Kalsariya (Range Forest Officer, Veraval), Dr. Vishal Chavda (veterinary officer, Junagadh Forest Department) and Mr. Mohanbhai Bharavala (Head, Veraval OBM boat association), who accompanied the team during the operation. This marks the 11th such tagging exercise for the world’s largest fish in Indian waters and will help us with crucial information about its behaviour and migration routes.
