I gave up on SmartCrates as often the mp3 metadata is actually incorrect. So i just do it manually now. Im quite religious about how i maintain serato. So i generally download tracks throughout the week. Then on a sunday night i import them into Serato. Set all my Hot Queues as per my standard for every track, then move them to each Crate as applicable. I then make a fresh Serato Backup and also my main Music structure is also backed up to my NAS unit. And my NAS unit also sync's with the Cloud as well. You can never have too many backups !.

Wow thank you I can't believe I've never heard of the auto download folder inside serato folder! Thank you for the heads up!

Very helpful video for some. Question, do the files from Latest Import physically get removed from that crate when moving them to your own crates in serato? Or will the track stay in the latest import crate?

Why would I want to load My mp3 music files into the AutoImport folder and slow my computer down when I have an external SSD hard which I have connected to Serato?

Does auto import work with external hard drives

Great tutorial. Quick question. What do I do with the other music that I have downloaded? I dont want to have different files. Should I import them into auto import?

I hate the idea of having all of the music go to the Serato folder (like the actual files... > Imported). I just wish all functionality worked if you placed a shortcut to the actual files in the Auto Import folder. It does in fact work, but it updates the date added of every track to the current day each time you open serato.

This would be hard to use for multi genre DJ, don’t you think?

Wow very smart to get songs added in a very organized way. As long as you down load from dj record pools your good!

Crossfader are usually exceptionally good with tech tips, but this seems like a terrible idea. Over time your files would become a complete mess. What if you use other DJ software? You’d have to tell Rekordbox (etc.) to find your music in the Serato folder? Just keep an organised folder structure, then drag and drop into Serato, so easy! It’s because of these types of ‘hacks’ that DJs end up with missing files in software and also makes backups a problem because files are located in random folders.
