Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 1 is here, which means Anime of Fall 2022 has officially begun! Now we all know in every anime season there's Isekai / Reincarnation Anime that air. At this point most of us have seen what this type of genre has to offer, but there can always be some surprising hits. Mushoku Tensei and Re Zero Starting Life in Another World is a good example of typical formulas being turned on its head. So will Reincarnated as a Sword / Tensei shitara Ken Deshita be a sleeper hit?

So is the show good or bad in your opinion?

Been following the manga for awhile and I personally love the series. And really glad that the anime didn't censor the violence. The manga is really pretty dark. The humor all comes from the sword honestly. Fran is basically the real main character. She has the most backstory and character development. The sword is basically her father figure and trainer and protector.

To be fair, the main point of the plot has already been stated. Fran wants to evolve into a higher form and Teacher/Sensei is going to be the one to help her achieve that goal.

The hook is really in the fan nickname for the story AKA "Sword Dad" unlike Slime (Kingdom Building) and Spider (Self-evolution) the focus is more on the father/daughter style relationship the two have.

It's good. I'm biased since I love the manga/source material. People see the word "Reincarnated" and immediately jump on generic/trash, which is so unfortunate. The relationship between Fran/Teacher is so wholesome, Fran and her backstory, etc. There's good lore behind everything. It's so hard to make the Isekai/Reincarnated shows different, it's how the characters are written, interact, etc. which the show will hit on.

People need to give this show a chance. Which means more than 1 episode.

as a light novel reader, you're exactly right. for this series the first episode is not enough to get an idea, and id argue 3 episodes isn't even enough.
it is a lot different than other isekais in the relationships it builds between our main characters which is our focal point of the series. its VERY oriented on their relationship together (no romance)

don't get me wrong there is A LOT of action and "darker" stuff in the series, also side note volume 10 of the novels is one of my favorite light novel volumes of all time

As one of the few times I'm more familiar with the source material before the anime came out. I implore, PLEASE give it more of a chance and watch more episodes, it does in fact get better. I will say this though, the real MC isn't who you think it is.

It is a brutal feel good story. It is dark and lighthearted at the same time which in my opinion is the charm of the series. The light novel is so much fun to read and the anime looks to be a super good adaptation (I had tears in my eyes seeing one of my favorit books get such a good adaptation)

Fan of the manga. If you've read it then you're probably pleased with this first episode. Not a fan of that trash word pretty sure those artists worked hard on this. I'm personally going to give it a chance.

It looks decent for an isekai but this is one of the most loaded anime seasons in years so I really don’t think many people will end up checking it out

As long as it keeps (close) to the manga (at least), it'll be fine. A good balance of violence and humor. Fran is adorable! 😻

Got me, the animation is quite nice. And I love that the sword is going to be the father figure and mentor to the cat girl. I am quite weak when is has a FAMILY theme in it haha.

I’ve been looking forward to your option and reviews of the show and look forward to them for the next few episodes and hopefully more, but damn when the sword found out she wasn’t free he instantly snapped his neck with no hesitation or delay I was like whoa…. The anime is doing really great for the first episode. Also surprised to know that theyre actually went out showing the violence already. Cant wait to see how they handle some upcoming stuffs
