I’m 43 and this has been “unknowingly” my aesthetic since my late teens/early 20s (way back in the early 2000s) before any of this, as well as inclusivity, was cool. I never really understood about aesthetics before until my 3 daughters (18, 14, 11) started poking fun at me about 8 years ago for my own style, and goblin/hobbit like special interests. To me, my clothes are just comfortable, modest, and practical in shades and textures that bring me minimalist stimulation, and just joy. Even since I was a kid I’d collect treasures from outside in my pockets, and when I was older I started building terrariums, and learning about fungi, and the whole ecosystem of the forest floor. 😊 Oversized dark cardigans, and pullovers that I knit myself, baggy cords, scrappy knit socks. I even roll my hems on all my pants too, but because I have to, as I’m very short and too lazy to hem them.

As someone who has been living this “core” before it was a “core”, it’s fun to see the younger generation embracing the love of the gritty, dirty bits of nature that can often time be trampled under shoes, and go overlooked. 😊 Also, I also have a queer, brown daughter. Lovely video.
