i got an Audi a5 3.0 tdi v6 for under £5k and when you look at the performance with a stage 1 compared to an s5 there really isn't much in it and you get one of the best sounding diesels with great economy

Great content but think you should’ve suggested the 3.0l SC V6 S4/5 instead of the V8. I was close to getting one and research seemed to suggest they seem to lose power. I think the timing chain guides can fail as well. Look at Matt Armstrong’s build, his was down on power. If you want a cheap V8 it’s fine, but don’t expect a stable of full horses.

Absolutely incredible that you can get a S5 for £5k!! Feels just like yesterday that those were released and scared the sh*t out of BMW Fanboys (myself included). Great video mate!!

Re the Boxster - I used to own a 987 and can certainly vouch for the claims made in terms of handling and just being amazing to drive. I understand the 987.1 S with the 3.4l engine (I.e. the one in your video) is the one to avoid as bore scoring is more a matter of when than if. I don’t think any of the IMS/RMS/Bore scoring issues were fully resolved until the introduction of the DFI engine with the 987.2. Unfortunately those are in a completely different stratosphere price wise.
