I don’t even have to worry about how often I feed my dog, she won’t eat unless she’s hungry. We often leave out 1-2 cups of her food and she will leave it for hours until she is ready and eats it. Only time she doesn’t wait with food is treats.

When my dog was young, he would only eat once every two days. Now he’s 12 with cancer, he eats two times a day and looks forward to almost every meal (he’s picky as well)

After having a baby of mine choke and pass away (after six days of fighting so hard to stay) I feed them twice a day. She would get so excited for food in the morning and scarf it down (she was also a bunny and foraging things didn't really work for her, I was also uneducated). I'm so fearful now that I feed my boys at the same time everyday and layer their food in baby stacking cups to slow them down (as well as on bigger bowls so it spreads out the food)

Fun fact: dogs that are only fed once a day are less likely to develop age-related conditions such as canine dysphoric disorder (dog Alzheimer’s), cancers, heart disease, diabetes etc. (from The Dog Aging Project, a study being conducted by the UW medical school)

Ultimately if your unsure about something with your pet, ask your vet. They will usually give answer based off both your dog's history and the breeds history. I personally have always fed twice a day but that was what worked with the dogs I've owned, every animal is different much like humans.

And also free feeding if your dog can (some breeds like labs cannot feel whne they are full so they will just eat everything)

I feed her once with canned wet food and leave out dry during the day. She's fed every 4:30 and does not touch a single crumb of dry food

I used to just leave dog food out but went I got an another dog. Even tho they where best friend from the beginning, they started to get food defensive. Luckily I had already seen it happened to my dad went his dog had puppy's so I immediately took the bag away and gave em two meal a day. I might start to give em three tho they are pretty big dogs.

Going back to dogs ancestors they eat once a day. Their body is acustom to a feast/fast lifestyle and I have found the best results feeding my dog that way. No hate at all, just sharing my opinion on it 😁
