I have an old nunchaku...12" octagonal hardwood that I re-strung myself with paracord.(This was way back in the early 70's) I also used the ole' white surgical tape wrapped 2-3 times around the bottom of the handle to prevent your your hand from sliding past the end of the chuck.
Ah! ....for the old days of Bruce Lee! 😊

I have two of the natural wood abd one black. I have been practicing martial arts as well as edged and impact weapons for over 45 years. These are the best nunchucks I have used. They are now legal to own and carry again in NY state. Would be nice to have something like an open top carry case with a kydex clip to carry them under a jacket. Beats using the old trick of one down your jacket sleeve. The natural wood grips are heavy enough to be an attitude changer, and light enough to manipulate . Good job

I train a little different. I have a tennis ball on a rope that I hit and I just ordered my 3rd pair of speed chucks. I've broken my other speed chucks. My brother and I made a pair on his lathe but you don't want to make a mistake with them. I have a video up of me using them. I need something that's not going to break and can hit that ball all day.

I disagree with you about the foam chucks. I’m old school and never used foamies. The fastest way to learn how not to hit yourself is to feel the sting of a chunk of oak whacking your own elbow. You’ll learn quick how not to! 😅

I started with 380g combat nunchaku.. no pain no gain.. foam nunchaku is total bs...
I made pair of nunchaku out of oak.. short rope, 14 inch sticks.. they feel so fast and good for spins..
I started with 7link chain, 12inch sticks, but i was hard to spin and do wristrolls... Its all about weight and chain length.. materials are irrelevant..
