This is a "hot" performance from the first lady of the flute and musicians. We all remember where we were when we first heard Bobbi Humphrey! The memories just roll back the years for me. For me it was 'Chicago, Damn' and 'Harlem River Drive' and her version of 'Smiling Faces Sometimes' featuring the amazing Alphonse Mouzon on drums. 'Sunset Burgundy' was right up there for me as well (I flipped the 'Home Made Jam' single and found this gem on the b-side!). All of Bobbi's albums are available again, some as expanded versions like 'The Good Life' and 'Freestyle'. Would be great if BlueNote released some demos and rare stuff from the vaults... especially for the albums 'Blacks and Blues' 'Satin Doll' 'Flute-In' and 'Dig This' ...

This tune was first given to Roberta Flack. Grover literally got to record it because Ralph did not think she wanted Great

On his debut album Ralph recorded his own version of Mr. Magic arranged as a Latin Jazz tune, completely different than what he and Grover did with it.

Isn't this Grover Washington Jr.? Mr. Magic, or something like that. So why does this title video say, "In tribute to Ralph MacDonald?
