I think the leotards of today are meant to demean women. Judges do not need to see the outline of a person's vulva to rate the gymnast's form.

Is it just as important for the judges to see the male gymnast’s body lines?

I have never seen a male wear a “second skin”, or be required to wear one, in order to be judged.
