Great pieces of advice for summer! And thanks for the book, I bought it right after you mentioned it.
Still, I didn't hear a crucial thing, that, in my opinion, is very important in summer. Sun and Water. Everything about it. Start drinking more water, sunbathing every day, swimming regularly, trying watersports, working out on the street, etc. And also that's is a great way to communicate with other people, because there always a lot of them near water in the summer.
And I would move reflection on autumn or winter when we spend more time at home. Summer is a time for more activity and less thinking.

advice on someone who's been on this tryin to be more social journey for 6 months now


for anyone naturally introverted like me, do not bellieve in the lie that you cannot change yourself, it's a lie. i repeat: ITS A LIE. shyness is a learned behavior, and i completely get that sometimes it can feel like that it is something inherent or your genetics or something (please trust me, I have been through that way too many times), but IT IS NOT.

the key is to just continue putting yourself out there. all the time. that's what i didd. i got involved in choir first, because i like singing, and then theater after that. that was for me specificcallly. i cannot tell you how many opportunities, friends i've made, and people i've met just from those 2 decisions like a year ago and then 6 months ago. just becoming part of a group is so hugely beneficial for you.

and also a big tip is don't overthink conversation. i am a ginormous overthinker, but i'm overcoming it, day by day. conversation isn't that hard, bc you're talking to humans, and you are a human. the biggest reason you fumble is bc you have way too big of a filter and trust me a lot of ppl wouldn't care or think abt u any differently if you said the words that u throw out bc of your filter. it's better to just be yourself bc you're more authentic and there WILL be people who like you for who you are

i've been in this for 6 months. it will feel like 5 years after you do this for a while. but the person i was 6 months ago is legitimately UNRECOGNIZABLE to who i am now. i have so many more friends, people i love and talk to, and so so so many experiences w those friends. i'm still really introverted you could say, (i don't think ill ever get to the point of like social butterfly) but it's getting to a point where i can be talkative at will. i can hold conversations, i know how to navigate through social situations, etc. i'm not scared of it anymore

another part of this: you are inherently social whether you wanna believe it or not. bc you're social around your mom, or your dad, or your siblings. or even if not, you were social when you were like 5 on the playground asking like 6 people to be your friend. so it is IN YOU. if i could do it, you can too.

learning how to talk and not be as introverted or having social anxiety is so hugely beneficial. you get so many experiences and memories and meet just awesome people. the world becomes fuller of beauty the more you talk to it
