@michaelsleen I am using the NFC tag to let my family know if the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or dirty. have a "dumb" dishwasher connected to a smart plug. When the dishwasher runs/finishes it toggles an input Boolean to "clean dishes". And when I unload it I scan the NFC tag which toggles the Boolean to dirty Dishes. This status is visible to everyone on the wall mounted tablet nearby. Currently I have not found a good way to automate this without the manual effort of scanning the NFC tag. If you have a good suggestion here, I am all ears my man!!

I’d love to see a solution to NFC that doesn’t involve a phone. Like maybe a little battery powered zigbee reader. That way you turn it around and carry different tags on a key ring and wave them at the reader to run automations.
