Yeah for metal drilling you want a little lube and slow speed for non carbide/hss drills. That $20 one was probably a random tool steel, and once it got hot, it got soft. So its all about the right tool for the job since if you know what the actual limitations of the tool are, they live longer.

We'll try using a brand-new hole saw from harbor freight instead of the used one

Did anyone notice in the 2nd take he is standing and applying direct downward force, rather than kneeling an pushing down along with a faster drill speed in take 2.

Use cutting oil when drilling through steel. Overheating will trash a hole saw.

He was rocking the second cut that makes a big difference

I don't disagree but,

It's obvious you're using a brand new milwaukee and a used Hercules.

You can see the difference in the teeth. Milwaukee is way more aggressive with larger teeth. I think that Hercules you have there isn't a multi material cutter. Looks like it's sticky for wood and plastic. The milwaukee looks like it's one of the multi material cutters that's obviously designed up cut through harder material.

It's a drastic difference of how fast you're cutting with the second hole saw and not the first one

Please tell me why the harbor freight has worn marks on the inside and base of the holesaw while the Milwaukee looks new...

As my granddad says; "The most expensive tool in your toolbox is the one you paid least amount for because you'll end up replace it so many times. Buy quality - Get quality.

Only machinists and professional metal fabricators should review cutters Proper feeds and speeds coolant, clear chips!

(Edit) Wel crap, someone beaten me to the punch and about a years time too.

I suggestion as one in the trades. I would put the drill on a slower speed for material such as light steel or sheet metal and if thinker like 5/16 sheet metal I would start using coolent or cutting lube. You may cut a few holes but after the 4th or 5th the teeth will be meteled (burnt) or damaged in other ways.

Think of running it like a drill press you don't just set stuff to the highest speed, you need to adjest to what fits.

I’m gonna kneel down and put two hands on it for the cheap one but for the expensive one I’m gonna stand up and actually apply pressure. I’m all for tool reviews but you have to give everything a fair shake. Technique will change how a screwdriver performs.

Next time use a corded drill, the second hole saw sounds like a fresh battery, also ad lube and slow down.

I bought a carbide 4 inch hole saw 25 years ago for 54 dollars and it's still going strong they don't make them like they used to

Is the other hole saw made for metal? If not then it performs as claimed? Is it made to cut that kind of metal? Idk if that's hardened steel wich takes a different material for the hole saw to be made out of.

You buy cheap you get cheap. Is the moral of the story.😊😊😊😊😊

I use the Hercules hole saw to cut through 1/4 inch plate. Cut multiple holes. Had no problems with it.
