I doubt the 5090 will be released under 1999. The founders edition maybe, but all others will be 2k and up

5080 having 16gb of ram again should be a crime

$899 for the 5080 seems like wishful thinking. Taking the market and inflation into account, predicting $1099-1299 for the 5080.

Nvidia is just nerfing the 16gb 5080 so they can sell a lot of 5090s before the 5080 ti comes out with 24 gigs of VRAM. No one would buy a 5090 if the 5080 was 24 gb of vram.

If specs are true, they will make gap between 5080 and 5090 even larger than it is between 4080 and 4090 which is already biggest gap between 80 and 90 GPUs that ever been. Usually 80series cards had gaming performance very slightly behind 90series for much lower price. This is not good for gamers, because lower class cards are getting barely any improvements meanwhile flagship cards are getting massive gains resulting in huuuuge gap and with all demanding nextgen games and 1440p-4K highrefreshrate monitors there is only one card that will run these games in high fps with high resolution, which is standard now. We should be pushing to make 4K/240hz OLED gaming standard.

I really want a 5090. It’s THE card I’ve been waiting for for VR. I want to pair it with a headset that runs at 7680 x 2160 90hz, and I want to play path traced titles this way without using DLSS since the artifacts DLSS produces are much more noticeable in VR. Though, I genuinely think for flat screen games, the 5090 is likely going to be the first card capable of true photorealism at a playable framerate. I’m excited to see what future cards do, but I likely won’t be upgrading from the 5090 for a minimum of 3 generations after getting it. I would rather get a 5080 to save the money and then get a 6080 the year after, but it doesn’t make sense to do that because a 5080 is likely going to cost $899 or $999, and a 6080 will likely not eclipse the 5090 in performance, but will also likely be more expensive than the 5080. So at a minimum, 5080 + 6080 costs $1, 899, or I could just have a 5090 from the start and not wait 2 years extra for $1, 799. I eventually expect the photorealism movement to pass once it is achieved and stable for awhile, and that eventually games run on future high end cards will incorporate features that exceed reality and become their own thing entirely. I basically think that as graphical power goes up, capabilities will follow a spectrum that takes the form (stylized —> photorealistic —> hyperstylized). I’ve been waiting for photorealism since I was a kid, but I am also excited for the hyperstylization that will likely be possible with high end cards in the mid 2030s.

A RTX 4090 costs $200 to manufacture (no joke). I estimate the 5090 will cost $250 due to DDR7. Can you estimate how much profit Nvidia will take?

I think all the people who went out and bought the inflated 4090 that was sold well over MSRP and people selling them on at $2000 was exactly what Nvidia was hoping.
Now they know there is the demand and what people are willing to spend, so they can just cut out the middle man and just charge $2000+ right out of the gate.

Plus if these specs are to believed, the 5090 is getting double the memory of the 5080, and almost double the speed, so would justify them doubling the price of the 5090 compared to the 5080.

Kopite is the real OG.

As far as 600w, guarantee we’ll be able to power limit to 70-80% to get virtually the same frames, which would bring TDP to ~450w. Glad I picked up a Corsair sf1000.

If you are starting out with a new build it's going to be a hit, but if you are already into high-end gaming it's more than likely that you have a RTX 4080 or 4090 and can use it for a trade or sale. I have a friend giving me $1, 300 for my 4090, so dishing out $500 to get the best VR gaming is worth it to me. I am just happy to see a good update at this point, thank you.

I wonder why nvidia cuts down the memory bandwith so much... the rtx 3080 had 320bit resulting in 760GBs and the 3080 12gb had 384bit resulting in 912 GBs. Thats just as much as the leaked specs of the 5080 here. Wtf?

1599 and 2499, most likely. Sorry to bring you back to reality.

I'll be keeping my 4090 but those are some insane spec bumps in memory!

There is no way you are close on your prices. 1699 and 2799 Im guessing. Without competition they gonna stick it to us...saying you can afford it if you can find it.😢
