I have no gardening experience and my first attempt was when I was severely depressed and couldn't keep up. I'm giving basil a go, since it apparently grows well in Florida, and I'm trying to let my mom's hyacinth birthday gift go dormant so she can have it year after year. I bought cheap seed potatoes at walmart and cut off every eye and could have planted probably 30-40 plants. I didn't chit them, planted each little slip about 4 inches down and every single one has come up and I'm so excited for my first go with this crop!

Cosmos are lovely! They are native to México and here we get fields full of them and tiny wild sunflowers! Its dreamy, one of those things i wish everyone could see. Naturally they bloom around September so they provide a great enviroment for migrating Monarch butterflies on their way to Michoacan

I've grown chamomile and cosmos before. Chamomile reseeds itself, just like my sunflowers did. The cosmos did not come back the following year; but, every now and then, I would find a random cosmos plant growing where I had not planted any.
