If this crisis never occurred, I would've never considered planting a garden. I hope my first garden succeeds this summer.

Luke, in this time of obesity in America, it is so awesome to hear you discuss the nutritional value of the crops as well as yummy ideas of how to eat them. Great job!

I teach a "Foods" class in NW OH to Junior High students, and we have a sweet little raised bed garden at school, that I've built for my "sustainable living" unit. I've watched all kinds of fall garden videos, and this one will work for the classroom. Love your inclusion of nutrient information, discussion of the crops and meals as well as the enthusiasm!

It would be really helpful to know when to plant these crops, like how late can you plant potatoes, cabbage, etc? Also do lettuces need to be covered to protect from frost?

I find that green onions/scallions/garlic type of plants, do fine in cool weather also.

And as far as green onions go, they can be harvested fairly fast.

I just started watching your channel. I love how you grow so many different things and I think you do a really good job explaining and teaching how to be a good gardening. Side comment, I’m also allergic to raw carrots, among my other many allergies

Best cold remedy I was given, fry off then boil carrots, potatoes onion garlic and chillis. Add a little flour to thicken with a stock cube and you have a bug busting soup. It works. Add in a bit of ginger for an additional zing.

I love potatoes. They saved lives back in the day. Literally saved lives.

I'm starting my tenders, lettuce spinach chard, in trays. As soon as I pull up my ginger and turmeric (Oh and sweet potatoes I hope) I'll get my kiddy pools regenerated. They are my raised gardens and help from Florida bugs and nematodes.

Thk you. I learned so much from you. I had success with Kale and Collards in big pots....on our deck. That encouraged I had not ever grown winter veggies before. I sheltered them with double-layered shower curtains...against a north wall. This winter I will place plants on a South wall that receives lots of winter sun....(with proper protection also). Thk you so very much. Ahna. Atlanta/Georgia USA

Love your videos, Anytime someone asks about my garden or how to do some things I've never grown, I tell them to look up your videos. They have helped me a lot.

I love how you described it “It’s nature’s cold storage” :-)

That's why I haven't had any luck with cilantro or lettuce here in Florida. But I can't complain, my peppers plants and tomatoes are thriving right now.

We love cilantro! I always let it go to seed and enjoy the pop up surprise every year.

I'm going to grow more in cold times in the year! I see a big need now. Food shortages are coming !

I agree with all these EXCEPT you didn’t mention my favorite winter vegetable! COLLARDS!! They love the cold and mine survive and thrive all winter long here in SC, Zone 8a 😋

I grow Brussels sprouts, cabbage, lettuce, garlic, collards somewhat (not the biggest fan), kale, chard, broccoli, and cauliflower mostly during the winter. Some of these weren’t mentioned!
