Fish and Film - Mountain Water Memories ( Dry Flies, Dry Dropper and Wild Trout)

Fishing is a story . .

Favorite waters hold a piece of an angler's history. Memories last, as though embedded into the rocks. And as this permanent structure persists -- immovable, the flowing water around these rocks -- these memories -- changes course, accelerates and relaxes as time passes by.

Deep into the fall season, I revisited one of the most important small streams in my life. I fished dry flies and dry dropper. Fishing was technical at times, and the weather swayed from sunny skies to strong winds that created a canvas of colored leaves, until eventually concluding with a cold, calm rain near the end of the day.

But as great as the fishing was, all of it was secondary to the memories, both old and new, among the minor waterfalls of a steep canyon valley.

Wonderful. Loved the reflective moments at the end. Miss my native Pennsylvania. Sigh...

Absolutely loved this. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your adventures. The flood destroyed us here in western NC, my local river, went from 50 feet wide to 300' now. It washed the trees off the river banks and most of the roads away. The river banks are now vertical cliffs, it would take a ladder to even get into the river. There are search and rescue, cadaver dogs, national guard everywhere, still searching for bodies. What they are finding is just pieces of people, identified one man from his pacemaker. It's awful here. I had to get away, so we drove into Tennessee and caught some trout. The first time I had been fishing in 5 weeks, still no internet, cable, or land line phone. We bought a starlink, so I'm working on getting caught up on my Troutbitten and enjoying every minute of it! Dom thanks again for sharing

It may seem selfish but there’s nothing quite like being alone on the water. But are we really alone? It’s so good for the soul. Another good one thanks again. ❤ that dog.

Due to my location, most of my fishing happens on small creeks like this, often even smaller. You did such a great job capturing the beauty and romance of these kinds of places. Watching this took me there, and calmed my soul. Great job Dom

Beauty, Dom. I’ve been fishing small mountain brooks here in Vermont & the White Mountains with our Bordoodle, Benji.

Excellent film Dom, thank you for sharing and taking us along. I do enjoy fishing small streams, so intimate and close quarter fishing, you see loads and learn loads.

I recently had an encounter with a large steelhead that did not end well. To soothe my wounded angler heart I am headed for my favorite small creek in the mountains for one last hurrah before winter sets in here. The fish are small but feisty and the scenery lovely. This video was the perfect primer for my pump! Hoping dry droppers work but ready to tight line if that's what it takes. What a great job of filming, fishing and narrating. The doggie made it extra special. What a good pal you have there. Best wishes from NorCal.

Dom, this was wonderful. I changed my plans for tomorrow to head into the mountains myself and fish with my 7’6” custom glass rod (next year is the 8’4” 3wt). Going to go breathe.

Beautiful video. Near 7 mile? Good water level for this drought. Thanks.
