Do you ever look at someone and wonder what is going on inside their head? Disney•Pixar’s original new film “Inside Out” ventures inside the mind to find out.

Based in Headquarters, the control center inside 11-year-old Riley’s mind, five Emotions are hard at work, led by lighthearted optimist Joy (voice of Amy Poehler), whose mission is to make sure Riley stays happy. Fear (voice of Bill Hader) heads up safety, Anger (voice of Lewis Black) ensures all is fair and Disgust (voice of Mindy Kaling) prevents Riley from getting poisoned—both physically and socially. Sadness (voice of Phyllis Smith) isn’t exactly sure what her role is, and frankly, neither is anyone else.

When Riley's family relocates to a scary new city, the Emotions are on the job, eager to help guide her through the difficult transition. But when Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind—taking some of her core memories with them—Fear, Anger and Disgust are left reluctantly in charge. Joy and Sadness must venture through unfamiliar places—Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, Abstract Thought and Dream Productions—in a desperate effort to get back to Headquarters, and Riley.

Bottling up the negative emotions. That almost always backfires.

I feel like this is gonna have a message of 'your sadness is not bad, and you don't need to repress your feelings.'
I like that, it's better than telling people to force like they're happy all the time

I noticed that there is really no real villain in the movie. I then realized that the villain is technically Joy herself. Think about it. She's the one who caused all the problems. She left out Sadness and tried to take control of Headquarters. This caused a chain reaction making Sadness feel left out and want to be included. So yes. Joy is basicly the villain. If you have another theory, you can say it in the comments or reply.

Great first clip! The animation actually reminds me a lot of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", especially Joy's movements. Love how the animators are pushing the cartoon aspect of this, in contrast to what will likely be more subdued animation outside of Riley's head.

Everyone's focused on the unfair treatment of Sadness, but I'm fixated on the wonderfully cartoony animation.

Awww, poor Sadness. I get the feeling she will be the one character we will root for in the film. :(

I love the way Sadness perks up when Joy says she has a job for her. It's like, she's still "sad" but excited at having a role to play... which makes the "circle of sadness" all the more heartbreaking.

We can't really blame Joy for leaving Sadness out. When we want to have a great day, of COURSE we don't want any sadness in it. But, of course, when life happens, that's when Sadness is often needed.

Sadness looked so happy that she was going to have a job to do, and then it suddenly turns as she has to keep herself miserable and keep it away from Riley. That happy face tho!

I think Sadness being put to the side by Joy represents how those who are sad always hide behind a smile., in this case, Sadness is overshadowed by Joy.

I'm pretty sure the whole "treating sadness the way she did" is going to be a very big plot point, if you can catch the psychological innuendo there.
