Ikea literally has a product description on their website that says what the products are made of so it's not like theyre hiding anything, they're very open about it and proud of this technique

A lot of residential interior doors are basically cardboard as well...atleast in the US.

If you go in IKEA physically they usually have this sown in their show room.. At leats here they have had examples open where they show insides of these.

I remember when I first invented Ikea, we intended to find ways of processing paper waste and crafting household goods from them. Even cardboard is made of paper, surprisingly.

I've bought 3 retro school desks off classifieds, all steel frames with particle board laminated. All 5 foot lengths, under $30, one of them even has a slide out metal drawer. Sturdy and work great. I can always buy a slab of hardwood and replace the particle board if Im looking for an upgrade

If IKEA uses solid wood for all of their furniture
1) it will be expensive af, which is not the goal for ikea
2) how much wood is wasted, can you imagine?
3) the weight is so heavy not many people will be able to assemble themselves

I prefer solid wood because you can do more stiff with it. (Easily install monitor arms by Putin a screw through the table) but if you're just using that thing normally it's actually good if it's build like that because it saves a lot of material. And that's also why those tables are really cheap, i bet the mist expensive thing is the hard shell around that thing.

It's literally just a hollow core door with no holes for the door handle. Take that knowledge to your home center and get a door on the cheap. Cable management is built in too.

It can hold a monitor and a TV with pretty small size of a monitor as well and some small items. That's it and maybe other things

As an ikea worker, unless a product isn’t specified as “made of wood” it’s cardboard .

Other than a Metal door and window, every other furniture in my house is made from such material.

It actually is practical that it lasts long enough for 5 to 8 years, great for enviornment as well, and bio-degradable

And we are sensible enough not to use it as a stool. We have a metal stool and aluminium ladder for other things.

Just make sure 😊 to do a anti-termite coat before installation. And you are set for nearly a decade.

In my high school band room we had a table that had a very similar inside design structure to the linnmon, and the drummers from the higher up grades would beat and stab it with drum sticks until it caved in.

If its just like a work desk or some shit its fine but if its sonrthing youll use everyday for a long time you should get something stronger
