The Epic of Gilgamesh (short movie)

Показать описание
The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest written story in human history. This is my humble attempt at making a cinematic piece of it.

Credits
Thanks to Ashurbanipal for making copies of the epic in his library at Nineveh. And to the Babylonians and Medes, who burned the library in 612 BC, unaware that they baked the clay tablets and made them more durable.

Sources

Thank you!!! My 9-y-old daughter and I were touched by your short movie. We read The Gilgamesh Epic from history book. It's great to find your retelling of this ancient epic legend!!

Another ancient story prophesying Jesus's sacrifice that brought in the new covenant. I'm assuming the "drinking of beer" to become a man was symbolic for "suffering" and so he had a lot of early suffering that turned him into such a brave man for his age. There is only one true path to eternal happiness, the way. Jesus. 😊

I had to subscribe b/c I like the way you have combined the story and made a cookbook from foods that would have been available during the time periods of the story. Its like literally giving us a taste of history!

so basically Gilgamesh was just some arrogant king who came to meet a strong guy called enkidu . Used him to defy some enemies . and then killed him afterwards because he was a threat to his status . intresting

This poem has been an inspiration for Jewish Thora, for literature and mostly it has been showing the truth about the human nature for 5000 years! Nothing has changed since then. You have made a great video. Mesopotamia has been the craddle of human civilisation for 6000 years along with Elam.

Actually, I think it was the irresistible bait that they used to trap Enkidu was the first step in making him human. They said that after laying with the woman for a whole week, he lost his speed and couldn't keep up with the wild animals when he tried to return to them. Then, he developed the thoughts of a man. The other acts of bathing, anointing, clothing and feeding him were steps in making him a more civilized man.
That's a pretty crucial part of the story.

All the hard work for a snake to take it all away, metaphorically speaking it stands relatable over time.
