National security, economic issues are 'timeless values' of the Liberal Party

Opposition leader Peter Dutton says he rejects the idea that the Liberal Party has lost its way and abandoned its conservative values.

“The people I’m most interested in representing are the Howard battlers – the tradies and people that are working hard, that believe in freedom of choice and all of the values that the Liberal Party represents,” Mr Dutton told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

He said the values he stands for aren’t "trendy" but are “in the best interest of keeping our country advancing forward”.

“The national security issues, the economic issues that we’ve spoken about, they are timeless values of the Liberal Party.”

LNP somehow being competent on "economic issues" is 100% messaging, media posturing and PR. It has nothing to do with their actual performance, which has been dismal over the last decade. Real wages, productivity, infrastructure and R&D investment have all flatlined while the debt has ballooned.
