South Florida Dance Company’s Rendition A Christmas Carol...
Scrooge’s passed business partner, Jacob Marley, is reaping what he sowed after living a life full of greed and selfishness. He comes back to warn Ebenezer Scrooge of his future life in misery for his misdeeds should he not change his ways. He foretells the visitation of 3 ghosts that will show him his past, present, and future in the life he has chosen. In this heartwarming story of second chances, Scrooge learns that the only true treasure in life is found in the relationships we build and in the lives we touch.
The Ghost of Christmas Past takes Scrooge on a journey through his childhood and young adult life showing him the moments where he was happy, the moments where he shared loved, and the exact moment that he chose to let bitterness and pride rule his life.
The Ghost of Christmas Present exposes Scrooge to the consequences of his choices and the effect they have on those around him. Bob Cratchit, his loyal employee, is overworked, under paid, and facing the reality that he will lose his son, Tiny Tim, to a debilitating yet curable illness if only Scrooge would pay him his worth. She also shows him the joy he is missing most during the Christmas season.
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, foreshadows the death of Tiny Tim and Scrooge himself ushering him into the afterlife he deserves. Scrooge is terrified of suffering and misery he will endure, for that is what he dealt to the undeserving in his life. He awakens from his sleep full of remorse yet gratitude to be alive!
This story is a beautiful lesson for both young and old that brings to our remembrance what is most important during the holiday season and in life. His greed and “Bah…Humbug” attitude remind us all that giving is better than receiving.
