A well made adaption by the BBC; beautifully dark and symbolic, traditionally sentimental and heartwarming, yet still with a new, more modern sensibility.

To those people complaining of the implausibilty of black people in London, remember, by the mid nineteenth century it was the city of empire, so people of all races would have been present.
But perhaps most importantly, 'A Christmas Carol' is not a historical document. It is a work of make believe, of fiction; of artistry and imagination. As with one of its themes, not so much the world as it is, as it might or could be.

I think ‘Scrooge’, 1951 starring Alistair Sims based on ‘A Christmas Carol’ is unsurpassed in passion, acting performance, humor, and originality. I’ve watched all versions . None can compare!
