Actually returned the 14 MBP because it felt small. Picked up the 15"Air, 16gb ram TB and because of its thinness, lightweight, portability, battery, screen and price it's the perfect laptop for me and probably for most.

Good displays either way, but the MBP 16-inch offers 120hz refresh rate. For those that use the mousepad, the MBP 16-inch is more fluid to scroll around the screen for high intensity work. Also, more ports. Both 16-inch Pro benefits may not seem like a big deal at first, until your workload gets intense. The Pros are for Pros.

I wish I could order a laptop out of curiosity 😢

Fantastic review. Love the aesthetic of the environments too.

15.3" vs. 16.2" seems like a big difference in screen real estate. Also, I'm told the thinner bezels on the 16 inch pro make it feel more immersive. Any thoughts on this?

Have both and love both. My MBP is my desktop computer. My air is my portable computer. I use it in my lounge room, out on the patio and when I’m out. Loving the 15” Air.

traded in my 2015 15 inch intel Mac Pro for a 1st GEN 13 inch Mac Pro M1 in Dec of 2020 and I so missed the larger display. I just traded in my 13 inch M1 Pro for a M2 Air 15 inch 16mb 512MB cant wait to get it. So miss the 15 inch screen its the selling point for me. Nice review.

Got the MBA 15 with 16GB memory and 512KGB storage. The perfect travel Mac. Just don’t need the heft of the MBP.

If you want a 16' inch pro with almost the exact perfomrance, then get the M1 Pro from 2021, I just got mine for 2000USD with 32gb ram 512gb ssd. Of course this goes for AI/Mobile developers, video editors, designers, etc.

Great comparison. Thanks.

I’m torn between the 15 MBA and 16 MBP. I want the 15 or 16 screen size so it’s between the two.

Question is: I don’t do massively technical stuff but I have maybe 20-30 web tabs open, I send a lot of data heavy emails and need to edit, move, attach and send documents and many emails every day - as well as running multiple word docs and excel sheets all simultaneously. Would the 15 MBA give me enough power? Or would a safer bet be MBP? It’s essential I can do all the above seamlessly without waiting times.

Thanks!

So, you are editing 4K video with the base model (8/256) with no issues. I had watched reviews a couple of years ago about iMac m1 8/256 so I went for it but I regretted not getting more RAM. I'm a Lightroom user and I find it demanding, ram wise. Way more than PS. Now I'm between MBA 15'' M2 16/512 and MBP 16'' M2 16/512. I wouldn't dare go for the base model again. My main worries are how fast and responsive it is in AI noise reduction, in rendering HDR files of 3 or 5 bracketed shots, in recognizing people for masking, in using spot healing, in stitching panos. In short I want it to be fast while I'm there using it. I don't care if the MBP is faster in exporting a batch of files because I canl let it do it's job while I'm doing something else. I'd very much appreciate your own experience in LR and in the specific usage, comparing the two. TIA

Using recently MBPro 2018 15, 5 inch and very happy. Often doing movie edits, also 360 movies reframing. No gaming....
So pretty often my cooling ventilator starting which is NOT available in Air. Was watching different reviews from really experienced independent guys
and decided not to buy Air 15 inch (LOVE Starlight color option). So for browsing even multiple windows opens the Air is just fine, but for edits Air double slow down comparable to Pro. Again, get what you pay for...

The macbook air cannot be connected to more than one monitor. If you want to use it to connect to multiple displays then it wont support it as it only supports one monitor.

It's like downgrading from a Porsche 911 to a Mazda MX5. 16" and 14" - better ports, much better screen, better speakers, and they are not much more expensive if refurbished or discounted M1 models.

I really really want a pro 😂. But that 3K is hard to swallow. I had the last MacBook Pro with a SuperDrive back in 2012. I want a big boy screen now. 👏

Thinking of getting the Air to go with my Macbook pro 16. The Pro is getting annoying to carry along with camera equipment.

The 16” MacBook Pro will last you longer. It’s the top of the line apple laptop. No denying it. If you can afford it just buy it. For those who say it’s a husky boy, yes it is, so is a Cullinan but it’s all lux, because it has everything you need in it. People who are apple users know when it’s a MacBook Pro or an Air. The all black keyboard bed is just better looking and gladly would pay the extra just for that. I hate the silver in between the keyboard on the Air. If you’re on a budget the Air is still a laptop.

The base MBA 15" is so slow I had to upgrade to 24GB memory 1TB SSD cost as much as the Mac Studio Max base.

Help me decide. A refurbished M2 14" MBP is at a very similar price but contains a lot more oomph. How would the 15" Air cope with running a my 4k 32" Benq display? Can it handle running Windows parallels?
