When I first experienced dark mode in 2018 through YT, I couldn’t go back. But recently, I’ve been using light mode again because many websites don’t have a dark theme and light mode helps with not showing reflections

Light mode typically uses more battery usage according to statistics because the pixels are active. Dark mode however, is a power efficient option that does the opposite as light mode, it either does not use the pixels physically if you use AMOLED, OLED, PMOLED, and POLED displays or electronically if you use LCD, LTPS, TFT, QLED, TN, MicroLED, and Mini-LED displays.

White mode is a great past to me. Dark mode is dark past.

If my goal is protecting my eyes, I'm not using a backlit display in a dimly lit room. That wouldn't make sense. So with proper ambient light, and my monitor brightness adjusted to match it, I use light theme. If the monitor is "too bright" that means either my ambient light is wrong, or my monitor brightness. Once adjusted I notice more uniform website UI design across the web and no "flashbangs" because my eyes are already adjusted, and the monitor brightness is correct. And I find similar improvements to what studies have shown.... I get better text legibility, less eye strain, and better accuracy with things like proof reading. Of course, sometimes I like dark mode for purely aesthetic reasons too.
