They're actually made in the USA near Mahomet, Illinois.

I got turned on to the crappie nibbles just this year. I even add one to my lure when jigging. Plus I'll have a set a line with them on if I don't have minnows. I've seen people add them to their minnow rig as well. What I have noticed is the crappie hold on to the lure just a bit longer. I'm sold on them!

You are right on the money ! I have several of that same float . And you can tell the slightest bite ! Always use in calm water !

I go back and forth between the Thill slip pencils and the little Mr Crappie Styrofoam slips as my go to favorite. You would think all foams would be the same, but in my experience it doesn't seem to be the case. I have pretty good feel and senses for how both behave, having used them so long. Sometimes I just feel or maybe even just get paranoid that the bigger Thills can spook some shy fish. Other than that, I love to fish with either, especially with minnows.

I picked up some pencil thin ice fishing bobbers on eBay for crappie fishing. Super sensitive and they stand up with a light jig. Cheap too.

In the UK we call this a “ lift bite”. Known about it for over 50 years. Our floats will have marker rings around the stem that settles above the water level and we will watch for as little as 1/8” lift. On some floats the stem is the only part that is visible.

Love using red round Bobby for crappie but always used minnows. Will try fake minnow bait and yellow nibbles.

i love using thill floats but those pencil ones cant carry much weight, , maybe a small split shot and that it unless you dont mind just the very tip of it sticking out the water

These spring bobbers are typically fixed or slip depending on where you thread. Were you fixed to detect the bite on this day?

I put a crappie nibble on the point of the hook weather using a jig or a minnow the nibble along with other bait increases the bite

how deep do you set your bobber? If the crappie are 16ft deep and have it set for like 6 feet i wont catch any. I am using a thill slip bobber and it never stays. we had the guy at bass pro look at it and said it was set up right.
