I'm Bosnian and we definetley do not dislike Ireland. Actually I feel like most people respect them for their bravery and love of freedom. Love from a Bosnian!!

I lived in the US state of Georgia for a few years in elementary school. This was around '94 or so. And there was a girl in my grade whose family had been refugees from Bosnia. I cannot remember her name but she was learning English. She could read it well but not speak it so well. We had a bookmark that had all the hand signs of each letter in ASL. We learned them together. Corrected each other on them, and then communicated through ASL letters. She became a close friend and then one day was gone. And then I moved back with my family to Boston. I can't even remember her name but I only remember how good of a friend she was and how sweet and intelligent she was. I know that wherever she is now that she is doing well for herself. She'd be 35 now. I'd give anything to find her again. I wonder if and how she remembers me.

As an Irish person who has just come home from visiting Bosnia, the comment shocked me for a second because I saw so much in common between Ireland and BIH while there and was met with such open warmth from the Bosnian people. But the lady is entitled to give her opinion. Hopefully the reason she dislikes Ireland is a trivial one (bad weather etc) and not something more sinister (traumatic for example).

I was in BIH once: Sarajevo, Mostar, Međugorje, Neretva Valley. Beautiful! Saw some really beautiful places, Žujo čevapi were the best! Everyone were so nice and friendly to us. Hard history, not rich country, divided in 3 parts, but people are still positive and happy. I like that about them. Slovenians and Bosnians get together very well. Slovenia accept Bosnian refugess, and we support BIH to become part of the EU.
