I've watched countless instructional videos on this subject, and I must say Yours is right up there with the best of them, your footage is nice and clear and your instructions simple and to the point. I love how you've kept those simple little mistakes that we could all easily miss in the clip which I'm sure will help a lot of people not make the same mistakes. Congratulations!! It really is a great and very helpful video. All the best

I have a Trek 800 steel frame that I'm planning to convert to electric. And here is the video I needed to see. Thank you!

Aunque bueno suficiente.

For you who are whining that "250 is useless!" go to Bike Calculator and put in the numbers: A 225 lb rider on a 60 lb bike up a 6% hill, using 250 watts from a battery and 150 watts of pedal power (quite modest effort) will get up the hill at about 10 mph. And he'll soon be in lots better shape than the frump who glides up the hill pulling 750 watts of battery power without pedaling.

I have built something similar with a cheap rear motor + battery 10y ago and it is still a great commute bike. I had to replace the battery twice, but this was expected. People saying 250W electric pedal power are useless maybe live in a country where you can drive 1kW bikes to school at 60mph. This is not so in many European countries. Go build your own bike and have (legal) fun!👍

Great video! You made it easy to understand how to convert a regular bike to an E-bike. Thank you very much!!!

if you're going to buy an ebike kit go for one with a dual mode controller. if the hall sensors in the hub fail the motor will continue to work and work well. some actually remove the sensors and the wiring and put beefier cables to power the motor instead so they can shove more amps to it.

Bought a rear hub kit in uk via Andy Kirby - costs over £750 so all you others saying €400 is a lot are lucky!

I installed a similar kit, but the controller was inside the battery so it was a cleaner install and neater, it was a yose power kit, and I can get 40 plus miles from it. The bike I used was a giant xtc from 2011

Excellent video. You show mistakes as well. That makes us all feel better about our own limitations lol

Great video very helpful, can I ask you advice please. I've just brought a 2022 giant talon 10 x1 speed. What size rear cassette do I need to have in the ebike kit? They seem to come with 7 speed rear cassette as standard will that be too small? Some kits come with 8 or 9 speed but not 10, any help would be appreciated thanks👍

Thanks for the cool video. I really like your bike workshop mat, can't find it on the interwebs, what's it called?

Hi Daniel. Is PAS installed correctly? I always see them on drive side (right) and when saw you to go on non-drive side, I thought that it is great hack and less pain. But then you installed that little ring with magnets facing out. Shouldn’t they face in, towards PAS sensor?

Curious if you've had any problems with water intrusion into the control box since you've done this mod. You probably would have better off mounting it properly so that the wires would have had a drip loop at the bottom, which would help prevent that issue.
