Can A Modern Enduro Bike Beat A Retro Downhill Bike?

Enduro bikes are unquestionably fast these days, Sam Hill even came close to winning the downhill world championships on one, but can they really be faster than a bike from 2000 designed to go fast downhill?

Neil dragged his old GT DHI race bike out to see how far bike technology has come on in the last 17 years. Can the retro bike hold its own against a cutting edge Nukeproof enduro bike?

Would you still ride a retro DH bike? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and don't forget to LIKE and SHARE this one, too.

Guys, please don't mix music so loud, it's a youtube video, not a Transformers movie.

Good to see Neil back in the saddle. Keeping it close with the old bike proves that it is the cowboy, not the horse that matters.

The real question is: Is a modern XC bike faster than an old DH bike? I would love to see that!

Neil, your old downhill kit still looks fresh and stylish, I like it! Cool video, unsurprising results.

I used to have a GT RTS-3 in 95. It was tough as nails, but I kept bending seat posts. GT's Zaskar was always a great XC hard tail. I will always prefer 26" wheels. Thanks.

Watching that non-clutch derailluer bouncing around over the choppy stuff brings back memories of literally banging down the trails.

Once again... Your music is TOO LOUD! |Make the vocals louder / compressed, or turn down your backing music! :)

Would of been cool if you rode once the same trail with a modern Downhill bike just to compare with enduro and retro dh at the same time. Keep it up with the cool work^^

I have to say, and that is in relation to all of your videos; I absolutely love your videos! You guys make really high quality material. It's the whole package. Not only great hosts but also great behind the camera staff. Great editing, camera work and sound. People are always going to complain about pretty much anything, so don't mind the downers They'll tell you what to do from their couch. You guys keep doing what you're doing. I have learned so much from watching your videos. You keep doing you. All your videos are amazing!
