Identify quadrilaterals
In this lesson, you will learn how to identify a quadrilateral by examining its attributes.
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
STANDARDS
CCSS.2.G.A.1 Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes. Sizes are compared directly or visually, not compared by measuring.
TEKS.2.8.C classify and sort polygons with 12 or fewer sides according to attributes, including identifying the number of sides and number of vertices;
TEKS.K.6.D identify attributes of two-dimensional shapes using informal and formal geometric language interchangeably;
TEKS.1.6.D identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares, as special rectangles, rhombuses, and hexagons and describe their attributes using formal geometric language;
TEKS.1.6.E identify three-dimensional solids, including spheres, cones, cylinders, rectangular prisms (including cubes), and triangular prisms, and describe their attributes using formal geometric language;
IN.2.G.1 Identify, describe, and classify two- and three-dimensional shapes (triangle, square, rectangle, cube, right rectangular prism) according to the number and shape of faces and the number of sides and/or vertices. Draw two-dimensional shapes.
VA.MG.1.11.a identify, trace, describe, and sort plane figures (triangles, squares, rectangles, and circles) according to number of sides, vertices, and angles; and
VA.MG.2.13 The student will identify, describe, compare, and contrast plane and solid figures (circles/spheres, squares/cubes, and rectangles/rectangular prisms).
FL.MAFS.2.G.1.1 Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
