Hey All! I did not use the most recent production numbers for anti-tank weapons in this video. The article I showed for Lockheed Martin's production of Javelin missiles is from April. But in May, Lockheed Martin said they will get their production capacity for Javelin missiles up to 2, 100 to 4, 000 a year. So, Ukraine should be good. They are going to get all the anti-tank weapons they will need by the end of the year to destroy every piece of Russian armor in existence. Russia is screwed.

I understood that the munitions dropped from quad copters are not mortar bombs (which would hardly work on armour anyway), but rather old soviet handheld anti tank grenades, which originally would need to be thrown by someone very brave from very close. Ukraine apparently has a large number of these grenades and found a much less dangerous way of delivering them, because unlike the soviets they don’t waste the lives of their soldiers.

As someone in that age group, I would like to strongly recommend against sending people of my age to war. We are unfit for service in the Russian army because: 1) we are too old to be blindly obedient 2) We will question orders, because we know better. 3) We will complain. About everything. 4) our attitude towards danger is best exemplified by the phrase 'fuck this, you first'. 5) We are too tired to commit war crimes. 6) We will surrender to Ukraine at the prospect of being allowed an afternoon nap. 7) having spent the majority of one's adult life in Russia is unlikely to inspire patriotism or loyalty. They know better than the youngsters what a rathole Russia is. 8) most of them will be dads, and are not going to take kindly to being talked down to by some snot-nosed officer young enough to be their kid.
Seriously, people this age should either be in command, getting young people killed, or senior NCOs, keeping young people alive. This is a tactic of desperation.

The 40 year olds would presumably take over assorted rear-area support functions, freeing up the younger army personnel for cannon-fodder duty.

Hey Jake. To answer that “we only make 700 per year” for the javelins (and stingers), there are MANY other weapon systems being built on a daily basis, and these numbers on stick pile volumes is only regarding the javelins. We will have no issue staying stocked up on arms. Effectively, we are just handing Ukraine a huge stack of older weapons they are already familiar with.

You can actually look at satellite photos of Russian armor storage facilities. They have fields of older tanks but 50% of them don't even have turrets. Many have been raided for parts or scrap. I seriously doubt that of the 10, 000 tanks in storage if 1000-2000 at most can be restored to operational. If they had 2800 plus maybe 2000 to restore, that's under 5k at most and they have already lost 1200 of those. It would also take a year or two to fix 2000 junkyard tanks.

The thing about dictatorships is that they are strong right up to the moment when they collapse.

All of those old tanks will be lacking night vision and inferred. They will be way easier to take out. And building 800 missiles a year is way easier then making 800 new tanks.

3:20 Well, I am 56, my conscription service as naval home guard officer was finished eight years ago. And then, the naval home guard servivce was more or less closed down, To save money. But if my old unit is re-etablished I will join them. Freedom and western, liberal democracy is worth protecting. This I will fight for.

Jake, late breaking news. Ukrainian forces are preparing to cross the Donetsk River at Staryi Saltiv. Also, the Russian Center for Aerospace R&D in the Zhukovsky region of Moscow has been shut down by sabotage, and will probably remain so for some time. The power transformer substation serving the facility has been set ablaze.

I'm VERY skeptival about those 10.000 tanks that Russia is supposed to have. Considering how poorly maintained the ones for the invasion are, which are supposed to be top priority in terms of readiness, i don't think those 10.000 T-72 are in working conditions.
You could probably re-furbish them with a big years-long program if you have a factory up for the task and with the international trading market open but... Russia is currently not in such conditions.
Now let's say that Russia starts re-furbishing them NOW... They couldn't put modern ERA and night vision systems on all the tanks they were planning for the invasion, how do they plan to do that now? Would they send MBTs with no such systems into the field? Because in that case you don't need a state of the art Javelin to defeat them, any anti tank weapon after 1980 would work... I think that the 2500 tanks are the amount of tanks that they can afford, 200 more in 6 months if the really start fixing them now.

Based on everything we've learned about the way Russia maintains its equipment, it's highly unlikely that the the tanks it has in storage are operable and ready to go. When we combine the Javelins with all of the other anti-tank weapons that Ukraine has, there are more anti-tank weapons in Ukraine than there are operable Russian tanks in all of Russia. If there is a legit reason to not send more Javelins to Ukraine, overkill would be that reason. But to worry that depleting our stock jeopardizes US security is silly, even cowardly. China doesn't have tons of tanks -- and a large LAND war between the US and China is extremely unlikely. Russia is the main reason the US has so many anti-tank weapons in the first place. If Ukraine indeed needs more Javelins, by all means let's send them. Would you prefer Russian tanks survive the Ukraine war only to be destroyed in a future war with the US or would you prefer Ukraine just go ahead and take of them now? The latter is clearly the rational choice for the US. It's also the right thing to do for Ukraine.

Wow, those Russian tanks are death traps! ROFL. (why are we not surprised at their total disregard for human lives when they are designing) They totally FUBAR'd! Thanks Jake, keep up the awesome work!

In less than 3 months, Russia has suffered half as many dead "peacekeepers" as the US suffered in 11 years in Vietnam.

I get what you've said at the end about laughing at the bully. Still I can't help but be sad about the poor bastards inside the tanks, that one truck driver who got blown up and so forth. Russian troops as well, who mostly seem to be people from the poorer regions of Russia. What a sad way to go, to lay down your life for this pointless shit. Ofc, the Ukrainians have to fight them, no discussion. And all of their casualties are even more tragic. But still, my heart goes out to all the innocent victims on both sides. I shake my head in sadness that this crap is apparently a periodically occuring part of reality.

According to a russian mechanic who had been working in the stockpiles, only about 10% of the stored tanks are servicable, the others are metal scrap or spareparts for the rest.
