Lane compost as in Lane Forest Products?

I live in western new york and I have to say there aren't many (if any) quality composts available. Most of the local stuff just seems to be whatever they can get, throw it in a pile and let it sit. A deep dive on composting would be cool and how to get the right carbon to nitrogen ratio and things to add to up the quality of compost.
