The OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model is a conceptual framework that standardizes the functions of a communication system into seven different layers. Each layer represents a specific set of tasks and protocols that facilitate the transfer of data between networked devices. The model was developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in the late 1970s and is widely used to understand and describe network architecture and protocols.

Here are the seven layers of the OSI model, listed from the bottom up:

1. Physical Layer: This layer deals with the physical transmission of data over a network. It defines the electrical, mechanical, and functional specifications for establishing and maintaining physical connections between devices.

2. Data Link Layer: The data link layer is responsible for the reliable transmission of data frames between neighboring network nodes. It provides error detection and correction mechanisms and ensures the integrity of data transmission over the physical layer.

3. Network Layer: The network layer enables logical addressing and routing of data packets between different networks. It determines the best path for data transmission and handles tasks such as addressing, packet forwarding, and fragmentation.

4. Transport Layer: This layer ensures the reliable and error-free delivery of data from the source to the destination. It provides end-to-end connection establishment, segmentation, flow control, and error recovery mechanisms. The transport layer protocols include TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol).

5. Session Layer: The session layer establishes, manages, and terminates communication sessions between applications. It provides mechanisms for session establishment, synchronization, and checkpointing, allowing data exchange and dialogue coordination.

6. Presentation Layer: The presentation layer is responsible for data representation and conversion. It translates, encrypts, and compresses data in a format that the application layer can understand. It handles tasks such as data encryption, compression, and protocol conversion.

7. Application Layer: The application layer is the topmost layer and is closest to the end-user. It provides network services directly to the user or application and includes protocols for various applications such as email (SMTP), file transfer (FTP), and web browsing (HTTP).

The OSI model helps in understanding and designing network systems by breaking down complex networking tasks into individual layers. Each layer performs specific functions and interacts with adjacent layers to facilitate data communication across a network.

I promise the short videos you make are the best short videos for learning about Computer Science.
The way you both presented is also too good.
Thanks you so much! Sir and madam
