Back in the late 1990s (long before social media), I sent pictures of my newly finished, self-made 8-string bass (standards & octaves) to Dan. I built the bass using tools and hardware that I purchased from StewMac. Dan sent me a letter complimenting my work; he and several other StewMac employees all signed that letter, and I still have that letter today. Thanks Dan and StewMac!

I don’t play guitar, I don’t fix guitars, I don’t know the first or last thing about guitars. But I landed on a StewMac video with Dan a number of years back, his passion, knowledge, and skill is infectious, so I subscribed and watched every video.

I remember when Dan took over from John Carruthers, in writing the monthly guitar repair article in Guitar Player Magazine. I also discovered Stew Mac in 1980. I couldn't believe the catalogue! A vast collection of guitar repair tools and parts. Dan also introduced me to "Naphtha". Now, I always have a can handy. I've gotten many useful tips from Dan, over the years. Thanks Dan, and Happy 80th Birthday!

Happy Birthday!!!
Just yesterday I was showing a buddy a hack job re-fret, it was very bad. I couldn't believe how bad it was, or that it would get sent out to a customer.
Dan has the gift, an angel's touch, and has made and keeps making an impact in the industry.
Dan/Stewmac and the rest of the gang continue to make a positive impact for yrs to come.
Thanks again

The greatest guitar tech there’s ever been. He’s taught us all what we can do for ourselves, and when we can’t do it ourselves it’s still demystified as a science, we know it’s not magic.
