You know sometimes I hear the GMaj when playing the verses and the GMaj7 only during Intro type fills. Sometimes my ears play tricks on me!

Maybe my music theory is bad but, isn't that a D2 (9) since the E is the 2 in a D major scale?

You’re missing the third harmony lead in the intro, there’s a harmony nestled in between the high and low parts
