When I was a teenager, my great-grandmother would give me a magazine subscription. She did this for the other 17 great-grandchildren (?!) as well. She would call the magazine company and I'm sure they loved her!! For the adults (grandchildren), they would get a certificate for a ham or other items for their holiday dinners. I still remember the magazines my "Nana Jean" gave me as well as the New Year's Eve traditions we shared. You're right experiences and memories are PRICELESS!!

Everyone in my family always gets a box of celestial seasonings tea, and a jar of Trappist preserves. Then I don’t buy tea or jam the rest of the year! Win, win!

My kids are all grown up. I'm all about the consumables for their stockings. Packets of hot chocolate, individual cereal containers, gum, fruit snacks ect.. I also bought small canvas bags with their initial on it that can be hung in the tree to put their gift cards in. And now that they have their own vehicles I'm getting them season passes to a theme park that's about 3 hrs away. They love going and can plan to go when ever they want. Years ago I bought different size canvas bags that I use for gift wrapping. No more paper mess all over the floor.

I have cut down on stocking stuffers this year, but I did buy everyone toiletries, I think it’s money well spent, because everyone needs them, and if they don’t it’s something that’s good to store away for when it’s needed.
Hobby Lobby is very tempting, I did buy a few new things that I fell in love with, I haven’t bought holiday decorations in three-four years, but I did make a donation box of Christmas items earlier today, and plan on bringing it to thrift store tomorrow.

So by this time in the school year the school supplies are dwindling down a little bit so I use this opportunity to fill their stockings with fresh school supplies and that way it's something they can use and it's also something that leaves my house. They love getting fresh markers fresh colored pencils fresh regular pencils erasers that kind of thing. I love your channel 💞

I whole hearted agree with all the things in this video. You also had many good gift ideas that I haven't seen in other content creators. Great job girlfriend! This fall I really challenged myself to only display a few smaller items, such as small glazed pumpkins and a table top thankful sign. 7 small items total and I LOVED my decor. Less really is more and instead of looking like Hobby Lobby threw up in my house, I had the sweetest touches of fall. I will challenge myself similarly with Christmas, wish me luck lol. This year I also stopped buying the easy filler items for stocking and only bought consumable snacks/beverages (not too many candies) & items the family would keep around long term (wet brush for example).

I love this! Thank you for the tips. I have also transitioned to consumables for my kids stockings. I did Dollar Tree trinkets that would break within a few days too! I guess it is easier as kids get older. Now I put in socks, toothbrushes, lotions, make up, yummy smelling sprays, bath bombs, etc. Thanks for providing such great content.

Consumables In stockings is the best way to go. We usually do new socks or mittens, organic bath fizzers, snacks I don't normally buy, some sort of baking thing that gets us in the kitchen together, lip balm, new pencils or pens.

Yes! I finally realized a couple of years ago, consumables are the way to go! I was so tired of the waste and the expense for stocking fillers.

You look great in red. It really suits you & it’s very Christmassy.

I’m just the opposite about putting decs up, as I put loads up. I’m single, live alone & don’t have anyone to share the Christmas season with, so putting decs up really gets me through a difficult few weeks.

Every year I add more. I put them up at the end of November & take them down around Jan 10th, or later. I can never understand why some people take theirs down the day after Boxing Day.

I hate smelly candles, they make me feel sick. If someone ever buys me one I either give it to my sister-in-law or throw it away.

I love The Friend magazine in December. It has some great stories in it.

I also love watching the church light the world videos.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving. x

Let's not forget the real reason for CHRISTmas. It was actually meant to celebrate the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ . As a society we have let retailers tell us what Christmas is and how to celebrate. That also goes for all holidays. I wish Americans can see the propaganda behind it.
